Building The Royal Pets: A Custom Full-Stack Web Platform and App for a Growing Pet Care Brand

The Royal Pets is a Kenyan pet care brand. They cover retail, grooming, and dog boarding under one roof. When they approached Zuce Group, they needed a custom platform. It had to handle thousands of products and manage service bookings. It also had to give their team the tools to run the business every day. We built and deployed a full-stack Next.js application, live at theroyalpets.com. It runs on a secure database and includes a set of admin tools built around how the business works.

The Architecture

The platform runs on a modern, production-grade stack:

  • Next.js (App Router) for both the storefront and the API layer, giving us server-side rendering and a unified codebase
  • Linux as the deployment target, configured for low-overhead restarts

What We Built

E-Commerce Storefront

The store supports browsing, search, filtering, and product pages across thousands of products. In addition, the homepage shows curated product rows - New Arrivals, On Sale, Trending, and Top Rated. Each row is driven by dedicated database queries.

Service Booking System

The Royal Pets offers grooming and dog boarding alongside its retail business. Therefore, we built a full booking management system. It covers customer-facing scheduling and admin order tracking.

Admin Operations Suite

Managing 5,000+ products and multiple service lines requires the right tools. As a result, we built a full admin panel with clear sections:

  • Products - a tabbed interface covering listings, categories, brands, product settings, cost price imports, category cleanup, and a trash/restore flow
  • Bookings - a full order management drawer with status controls and customer detail
  • Accounting & Finance - supplier data and cost price management

As the platform grew, we also moved related tools into tabbed panels. This keeps the top-level navigation clean.

Analytics Dashboard

The analytics dashboard gives the business a clear view across three areas. Shop Analytics shows KPI cards - revenue, total orders, unique customers, and average order value. It also includes a daily revenue chart and ranked tables for top customers, products, suppliers, and brands. Furthermore, period switching covers 30 days, 90 days, one year, and all time. Search Console provides direct links into Google Search Console and GA4. Google does not allow embedding in third-party dashboards, so direct links are used instead. SEO Performance runs a live health check of the site's SEO setup. It also includes an AI readiness check with action items and a blog audit covering images, excerpts, and metadata.

What This Project Demonstrates

The Royal Pets needed a custom build. Their needs were too specific for off-the-shelf tools. As a result, the platform covers the customer experience, internal tooling, and business intelligence in one codebase. It is also built to grow with the business. If your business has reached the same point, we'd love to talk. Zucegroup works across the full range of digital product development. This includes marketing websites, web applications, internal systems, booking platforms, and admin tooling. Every engagement starts with understanding how your business runs. We then build the infrastructure to support it. The Royal Pets is one example of this approach. For businesses with growing complexity, Zucegroup brings the technical depth to deliver. We also bring the product thinking to make sure it's built right. If you're planning a website, an app, or a system, we're the team to build it.
